The Last Few in Vietnam

When we arrived into our room, I met these lovely girls Hannah and Faye and super weirdly found that it is such a bloody small world – Hannah is going to Uni of Essex, which is 5 minutes away from my house! So we got allllll the plans to sort her out with food shopping, make up shopping, freshers week, pubs and clubbinnnnnn!! She also needs help learning to cook & have a surrogate mum whilst she isn’t at home so I’ve volunteered mine and mums services πŸ˜‚ It’ll be fun fun! 🍾πŸ₯˜

Went out and had a shopping day and a DOMINOS FOR LUNCH πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚ I had the Saigon Special so it’s kinda Vietnamese-y πŸ™„πŸ˜ We went into this shop and there was the cutest little puppy! Β He had been bitten by a bigger dog near his butt so he needs physio to get his leg straightening strength back! SO CUTE!!! Sadly, Β Will wasn’t feeling well again after we had had showers and ready for dinner so the girls & I went to have dinner at VBH around the corner from our hostel, a jug of Passionfruit Mojito later (one of the top 5 cocktails in existence!!) we popped our tiddlybutts off to the night market which is in the Old Quarter and got henna tattoos! Faye managed to smudge mine instantly by falling off of the kerb and grabbing my arm πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ still cute tho!

The next day will was feeling properly poorly so I whisked his poorly butt to the emergency clinic, annoyingly the taxi driver took us to the most expensive one πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜« but he felt so so much better afterwards so it was the right choice to go! Sent on our way with a bag full of medicine and other bits!! And as our luck goes, as we got back to the hostel I was feeling absolutely pants and slept the day and night away feeling sorry for myself! But we managed to get out of bed to book a day trip for the next day!

Terrestrial Halong Bay day!! So excited as I had seen this and wanted to check it off my bucket list too, so glad we managed to squeeze both Halongs’ in! We got the bus to Ninh Binh and on the way we stopped at Hanoi’s Disabled Handicraft factory & market place! I’m so so gutted I didn’t buy anything or take any pictures of the lovely people working on their sewn artwork – it was incredible work!! We carried on the journey to Ninh Binh on our coach with the lovely tour guide Rose! A lot of the Vietnamese people that speak English often give themselves an westernised name – both for personal reasons and for the western people that they take on tours around their areas! But she was so lovely and told us so much information about vietnams history, geography and language!

Our first stop on the tour was around the royal temple and padogas set infront of the huge mountains and it was just beautiful! The dragon statues were to keep all bad juju and auras out of the holy places that the royalty would pray in! Also, Rose taught us that the 4 pillar gateways had meanings about which doors/entranceΒ  you went through! So the centre was for the queens & kings, and the outer two were for the peasants – but they had a step so as they walked through they would have to kind of bow to the royalty as they stepped over/through!

Buffet lunch!! Needed as I was starvin marvin! Off onto the next stop of the boat ride through the central part of the Ninh Binh Terrestrial Halong Bay Area – absolutely beautiful, impossible for words or pictures to do any justice!! We kind of sat in awe and silence at the sheer magnitude of the place that we were in, it really puts a lot into perspective about life’s little tiny dramas!! The bicycle tour was next around the “countryside village life” rose called it, and asked us to smell the countryside which turned out to be a lovely concoction of cows, chickens and a bit of fresh air!Β  πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ back on the bus we went back to the city, so glad we managed to have another “big day out” and ticking something off the bucket list before we went home!

The girls were back tonight from their hideaway tour so we went for a lil dinner at the Prague Pub – naaaaaat a good choice as my food was pretty average, the cocktails were good(!!) but the ginormous HIDEOUS cockroach thing hovering above Fayes head was a definite no no to returning here again πŸœπŸ™…πŸΌπŸ˜‚ spot of shopping and said our goodbyes to Jemma, who the girls met earlier in their travels and I met on Castaways!

Our last day!! 😫😭😱we decided to go off to the water park and have a fun filled day to tire us out for the plane home! We went on allllllll the rides/slides (will kicked me in the head as he fell out of the ring – thank u darlingπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) and the lazy river and the wave machines and the zip line AND a 4 metre jump Β I had a huge audience watching me as I was massively chickening out at the top for about 15 minutesΒ πŸ˜«πŸ˜‚ oh and I said hello to a familiar foe of mine that likes to visit a lot here in Vietnam – SUNBURN πŸ˜…πŸ˜€

Back to the hostel where we had sneakily put all our stuff and towels in the girls’ room so we could shower and be squeaky clean for the plane home later in the evening! (1:10am flight 😴😴) Will and I had a last minute frenzy of shopping around for little Vietnamese bits and bobs and presents for people! Considering how organised we are at everything already it made sense to have last minute “oh shit!!” πŸ™ƒ We also found a SUPER nice place to go and eat for dinner with everyone later and I was so so excited about it! I had Hanoi Style Noodle Soup with Tofu πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜›πŸ˜›πŸ€€πŸ€€ I am missing the food so so so muchos already! 😩 said our goodbyes and off on our way to the airport we went! Funnily in our 11 seater taxi for the two of us and our bags πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

I’ll stick up another post after this one about my highlights and thoughts from being home after the best 6 weeks away!!
